   Detroit Renaissance powered past Detroit Public School League foe Detroit Denby 106-56 in boys basketball action on Friday, Jan. 7, at Renaissance.

   Renaissance opened a 63-30 lead at halftime and played most of the second half with a running clock.

   The Phoenix improved to 6-1 overall with the victory. Denby fell to 2-5.

   Senior Juwan Maxey led the Phoenix with 27 points. Freshman Jayden Savoury scored 21 points. Senior Samuel Hoskin Jr. had 15 points. Junior Jayson Gamblin added 13 points.

   Renaissance travels to Detroit Henry Ford on Tuesday, Jan. 11.
