Lancers advance to regional final

Boys basketball: Auburn Hills Oakland Christian beats Peck 62-34 in regional semifinal on Tuesday, March 5, 2019

 

   Auburn Hills Oakland Christian rolled to a 62-34 victory over Peck in a Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 boys basketball Region 32 semifinal on Tuesday, March 5, at Oakland Christian.

   Oakland Christian raced to an 11-3 lead in the opening minutes and never looked back.

   The Lancers were led by 27 points from sophomore Lake Patterson. Early in the second quarter he scored the first 11 points for Oakland Christian— including a pair of back-to-back threes — that increased the Lancers’ lead to 27-13. Senior Luke Isham had 10 points. Sophomore Daniel Siminski scored nine points and senior Jack Youngblood added eight points.

   “It was a fun one. Started a little slow, picked it up a little bit and played some good D,’’ Oakland Christian coach Dennis Hopkins told reporters. “We still have some things we want to work on defensively that will make us better. We did enough tonight to get the win that we wanted and close it all out.’’

   Oakland Christian (12-11) advances to face Burton Genesee Christian (17-7) in the final on Thursday, March 7. Genesee Christian beat Marine City Cardinal Mooney 64-45 in the other semifinal.
