Boys basketball: Birmingham Roeper beats Southfield Farber Akiva Hebrew Day School 53-34 on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018

   Birmingham Roeper pulled away in the second half to win its boys basketball season opener over Southfield Farber Akiva Hebrew Day School 53-34 on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Roeper Community Center in Bloomfield Hills.

   Roeper led 25-20 at halftime and extended their lead to 38-26 after a 13-6 run in the third quarter.

   Senior Jon Gardner led Roeper with 13 points. Sophomore Francis Allen scored 12 points, junior Jacob Gladney had 11 points, and junior Evan Akkashian scored 10 points in the victory. Junior Josh Vens added three points for the Roughriders.

   Roeper hosts West Bloomfield Frankel Jewish Academy on Thursday, Nov. 29.
