Division 2 No. 6-ranked Detroit Frederick Douglass pounded Detroit Public School League East Division foe Detroit Southeastern 75-38 on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Douglass.

   The Hurricanes improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in division with the victory.

   Douglass led 21-11 after one quarter, 42-17 at half, and 63-24 after three quarters.

   Pierre Brooks II led Douglass with 30 points. Donivan Peoples scored 21 points. Zavion McClendon scored 12 in the win. Fred McNelly each added 10 points.

   Douglass travels to Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. (8-2/5-0) on Friday, Jan. 17, with first place in the division on the line. King was ranked as honorable mention in Division 1 in the first Associated Press rankings.

Detroit Mumford 73, Detroit West Side 44: Alan Gee scored 22 and Devon Howard had 18 points and 16 rebounds for Mumford (6-4, 3-2 PSL West).
