   Division 3 No. 8-ranked Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence pounded Detroit Communication & Media Arts 77-51 on Friday, Feb. 28, in front of a capacity crowd at Edison.

   Edison improved to 13-4 with the victory.

   The Pioneers expanded a 20-17 first-quarter lead to 52-23 at halftime. They led 65-37 after three quarters.

   Calvin Marshall led the Pioneers with 22 points. Vince Cooley scored 12

points. Raynard Williams totaled eight points. Bryce George had six points and David Hughes added five points.

   Edison travels to Grosse Pointe South (16-2) on Wednesday, March 4, to conclude the regular season and opens the Michigan High School Athletic Association district playoffs against Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett (9-9) on March 9, at Edison. The Pioneers reach the MHSAA semifinals last season.
