   Detroit Loyola beat Detroit Community 56-43 on Saturday, March 27, to earn the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3, District 90 boys basketball championship at Detroit Central.

   Junior Anthony Garrett scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs. Sophomore Ryan Martin scored 13 points. Sophomore Amare Stevens had seven points and sophomore Dashawn Martin added six points in the victory.

   Loyola beat Detroit Jalen Rose Leadership Academy 80-60 in the

district semifinals on Thursday, March 25. Community beat Redford Westfield Preparatory 73-29 in the other district semifinal.

   Loyola (9-4) advances to face Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett (10-5) a Region 23 semifinal at Detroit Pershing on Tuesday, March 30. Warren Michigan Collegiate (13-6) already advanced to the regional final as their opponent, Memphis, forfeited.

   Loyola advanced to the District 91 championship game against Jalen Rose last season before the pandemic forced cancellation of the playoffs.

   In 2019, Loyola advanced to the regional finals, falling to Erie Mason.
