   The Bulldogs are on to the Elite Eight.

   Detroit Loyola edged Warren Michigan Collegiate 36-35 in a defensive battle to earn the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3, Region 23 championship on Thursday, April 1, at Detroit East English Village.

   Sophomore Ryan Martin led the way with 11 points for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Amare Stevens and sophomore Dashawn Martin both added eight points.

   Loyola (11-4) advances to face No. 6-ranked Flint Beecher (13-1) in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 6, at Waterford Mott. A berth in the Final Fours will be on the line.

   Beecher defeated Reese 89-58 to earn its regional championship.

 

   Loyola won its regional semifinal over Grosse Pointe Woods University

Liggett 61-37 on Tuesday, March 30. Michigan Collegiate advanced to the regional final when their opponent, Memphis, forfeited.

   Loyola beat Detroit Community 56-43 on Saturday, March 27, to win a district championship.

   The Bulldogs beat the Jaguars of Detroit Jalen Rose Leadership Academy 80-60 in the district semifinals on Thursday, March 25.

   In 2020, Loyola reached the District 91 championship game against Jalen Rose before the pandemic forced cancellation of the remaining playoffs.

   In 2019, Loyola advanced to the regional finals, falling to Erie Mason.

   Loyola last won a regional championship in 2016, advancing to the Class C semifinals.
